Success and Failure 6/21/2012
Today I got exciting news! A developer named Frantisek Hejl from the Czech Republic looked at my site and thought it was nice and since he couldn’t make the conference offered me his ticket. He initiated the transfer process and needless to say I was happy. I looked him up and although I can’t read most of his writing, he built a fantastic free 5 star public transportation Android app for his home country.
The Google I/O team then promptly denied the ticket transfer. I found out that yesterday they quietly enacted a ticket transfer ban. So while I succeeded in attracting the attention of a ticket holder, and while the FAQ still reads:
You can send that email, but it will be not considered and instead summarily denied. I’m not the only one to be denied I hear, but it is disappointing after working on it for weeks and having come so close. Frantisek and all his public service just doesn't strike me as your typical ticket scammer. In fact he seems like a very nice guy. I understand that these rules are there to prevent fraud, but this isn't it.
I was a little bummed that the I/O folks didn’t see the fun in it; certainly there were other Googlers that did. I keep thinking about all the people I’ve helped launch Google Apps, get into AdWords, install Chrome and guide toward App Engine cause if you couldn't tell, I'm kind of a fan. I pushed those people toward "Fun Google". Where is the Google that likes April fools day, has a great sense of humor?
So I succeeded at getting a ticket, it has been a dream of mine! But then I failed at getting it reassigned to me. I will hereby suspend the ticket countdown, and the barter list because it succeeded in its intent. Thank you Frantisek, thank you Googlers that helped me but couldn’t budge the I/O folks, thank you Twitter followers that put up with my excitement, and all the people on the thanks page.

P.S. Anyone know anything fun to do in SFO for a few days? I'm always up for adventure.

| Dear Googler / Ticket Holder,
I would like to go to Google I/O. I don't have a ticket. I have been asking around, but so far I haven't reached anyone who does. My connections inside the big G are pretty slim. So here is the deal: Every day I'll add something to this list (below) that I am willing to trade for a ticket. Whoever can help me get one will get everything on it.
|
Dear Internet Person,
If you don't have a ticket to trade, but do have an idea or a thing I can add to this list to make it totally irresistible to a Googler, let me know. If you'd like to support me, tweet a shout out to help me, or upvote this reddit / ycombinator.

166.7 grams of instant snow. I measured it with day 6's item. A spoonful of this dry powdered sodium polyacrylate polymer will make short work of an opponents (ahem I mean coworker's) cup of coffee. Build a snowman out of their former caffeinated drink! Try adding food coloring! |
|

Two packages of astronaut ice cream. Freeze drying technology will leave you amazed at how many ounces you aren't carrying around space with you. Soon you will try to freeze dry everything and confer with ground control about your ETA. |
